About Spring HIll TN

Spring Hill is the second largest city in the state of Tennessee, with a population of 55,337 at the 2010 census. It is situated in Williamson County, on a plateau above the Rolling Fork River.

Spring Hill was originally known as "Springville," but it changed its name to "Spring Hill" in 1859. The city was named for its location on a hill overlooking a spring-fed creek that flows through town.

The land that Spring Hill occupies today was first inhabited by Native Americans dating back to at least 10,000 BC. The area was settled by white settlers during the early 19th century, although it wasn't until after the Civil War that large numbers of migrants from other parts of the country began to arrive in the region.

In 1874, a group of investors founded Spring Hill Academy (now known as McGavock High School), which was one of the first schools in Middle Tennessee to offer secondary education to women and men alike. By 1880, there were more than 400 residents living in Spring Hill.
